Aim
We provide a holistic curriculum that honours the Dignity of every child - spiritually, morally, academically, emotionally, socially, culturally and physically. Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, we guide our pupils to be Stewards of Our Common Home and to act in Solidarity, seeing the presence of Christ in themselves and every member of our global family.
Daily life in our school is anchored by moments of encounter with Christ. From morning offerings to weekly reflections, our children are invited to meditate on the Word of God and hold the needs of others in their hearts. From the joyful expression of class assemblies to the celebration of community and school Masses, we empower our pupils to lead our worship through song, scripture, and heartfelt prayer. Our commitment to a "Love of Neighbour" is further realised through our "Other Faiths" units, where children explore the traditions of Judaism, Sikhism, Islam, and Hinduism to build a foundation of mutual respecr and solidarity.
At St Fidelis, we follow a Religious Education scheme called The Way, The Truth and The Life. Lessons consist of written, artistic and creative tasks aimed to allow all to succeed. These tasks create interest, passion and enthusiasm for the subject, for example making St Lucy crowns in Year 2, taking part in a Baby Doll Baptism in Year 1 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, analysing Spiritual Art in Year 3 and evaluating Catholic social teaching in Year 6.
We are proud that:
As a Catholic school we teach our children to think of what each of us can do to make a positive difference to others. Our families are extremely generous in their charitable donations and support of others who are less fortunate than ourselves. This is shown by the donations to the local Food Bank each month and to our Reverse Advent Calendar and the amount raised across the year for a number of charities including the British Legion, the Homeless of London, CAFOD and the Catholic Children’s Society Crisis Fund.
Each year, children from our Year 3 classes are invited to prepare for their First Holy Communion through a programme of after-school workshops for pupils and essential guidance meetings for parents. Following their first encounter with God's mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the children receive the Eucharist at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, supported by the prayers of our entire school community.
